Silver Shadow Path: Community Safety Alert
November 8, 2022. Watch these video clips:
Lucky Milidrag (owner at #50) let us know that his Lexus RX350 was stolen from his driveway on November 3 rd at 2:45 a.m. Click to start & stop. Each is 23 seconds.
The theft was captured on video from a neighbour’s camera.
A vehicle stopped on the street across from the house and dropped off an individual who is wearing a hoodie. The first car left immediately; the individual crossed the street to Lucky’s car and used a key to open the car door. He got in, backed up, and drove away. The entire event took 15 seconds.
It has been reported to the police. There is no expectation of recovering the vehicle, and no actionable evidence. These kinds of crimes are happening at an alarming rate – so please do what you can to protect your property!
That includes:
- Lock your vehicle and remove any packages that look tempting.
- Secure your electronic ignition keys/fobs in a Faraday Box (lined metal box or bag that blocks the signals) so that it is harder to clone a key, which can be done from outside your home. In this case, Lucky already keeps the keys in a secure box, so the theft may have been targeted, or the cloning happened at another time.
- If you witness a potential theft like this, do not intervene. Call the police.
- Be alert to strangers on the property who may be showing interest in vehicles or the fronts of the units.
If you see something suspicious, say something!
Diane Zerafa, our Property Manager, will gather any information about suspicious events you report, and keep us all informed. Please email Diane (diane@goldview.ca) or let one of the Board members know. Let’s work together to make our community safe!
